Archica 2026 Congress

In early April, the annual architectural congress Archica 2026 was held at Hyatt Regency Tashkent, bringing together architects, urban planners, developers, and international experts. The central theme of the congress was dedicated to the “Water Code” and the impact of climate on urban development. The expert block Climate Oasis. Assessing the ecological sustainability of cities became part of this discussion. The keynote speech and presentation by Bahrom Khodjaev set the tone for the debate, followed by his moderation of discussions among specialists in architecture, analytics, urbanism, and city planning.

The session focused on sustainable development in architecture and real estate: climate adaptation, energy efficiency, the introduction of green standards, and new approaches to urban spaces. We express our gratitude to the speakers Irina Vaganova from Orange Architects, Temur Akhmedov from the Green Building Council of Uzbekistan, Aleksei Letunovsky from CMWP Uzbekistan, Sagdiar Abbazov from Killa Design, and Alexander Fedorov from Tashkent Modernism for their expert insights and unique presentations.

The congress was held in two stages: Tashkent in April and Astana in October. The central theme “Water Code” revealed the influence of climate on architecture and urban planning. The program included the blocks City Revival & Identity and Spaces of the Future, dedicated to cultural identity and new urban practices. Among the international guests were Harry Dobbs from Harry Dobbs Design, Aleksei Boev from Neutelings Riedijk Architects, Dr. Lesley Gray from Barker Langham, Paul Owens from the World Cities Culture Forum, and Antonio Bettencourt Henriques from Saraiva + Associados. Regional experts also contributed: Gaga Amatuni, chief designer of Yerevan, Lyubov Safronova from SAFRONOVA PROJECT STUDIO, Maria Sultanova and Maksim Oltyan from Studio SAD, and Bobir Klychev from ARC Architects.

Archica 2026 demonstrated that the climate agenda is moving to the forefront, and issues of energy efficiency and urban sustainability are becoming an integral part of discussions about the future. Our block Climate Oasis became a platform for exchanging ideas and practices, where experts from different countries and disciplines discussed how architecture can respond to the challenges of our time. The participation of Bahrom Khodjaev emphasized our commitment to shaping professional dialogue, and the congress itself confirmed that architecture today is not only about designing buildings but also about finding solutions for life in a changing climate.
